Case study

1977 Design

1977 Design and Brand Consultancy help businesses develop their brand and offer design services to help them communicate their messages effectively.  We’ve collaborated with 1977 on a range of projects over the years, helping to get client brands such as Hot Pot Digital online, so we were delighted to work directly with 1977 to help develop their own site.

Our approach

The design for the new site was handled by Simon Mortimor a freelance designer who previously worked with 1977.  Our job was to build a responsive WordPress site using these designs that offered 1977 a way to showcase their services, work and opinions on design and brand online.

The finished site takes the user on a journey through the service offering provided by 1977 – first demonstrating the benefits of brand consultancy before showcasing how 1977 use design to deliver messages effectively.   1977 have a rich and varied back catalogue of work so their portfolio is heavy image-led to give users a sense of this variety without having to jump between pages too often.

As with all our projects, we optimised the WordPress admin interface to make it very easy for 1977 to update their new site, keeping the content as fresh and dynamic as their own work output.

"Working with John on the 1977 Design website was a pleasure, both through the working process and in the final results. John brings a very rare combination of technical expertise, a studious attention to current best practise, and a high level appreciation of design and functionality. To get all three of these elements in a web expert is very difficult – we should know as we worked with quite a few."

Paul Bailey, Founder, 1977
